And I'm sure the horses welfare will be the first concern. When I studied in Frnace the people always cared for their animals even though they have a different viewpoint to we british. Wasn't it CW Anderson who said, "Many people have sighed for the 'good old days' and regretted the 'passing of the horse,' but today, when only those who like horses own them, it is a far better time for horses." There are too many old horror stories about over-worked and badly kept horses for any horsey person to look on this positively and France doesn't have the best reputation for animal welfare.
