I bet you wish you lived in France !!

You've just gotta love the French.

When you read foward thinking articles like this one.....

French towns worried about fuel prices, pollution and striking transport workers need look no further than the horse.

Horses are a possible alternative for vehicles such as school buses and refuse trucks, say groups eager to pick up on global concerns about eco-friendly transport.

"It's all about sustainable development and bringing some humanity back to today's monotonous, machine-driven jobs," Stephane de Veyrac, from the French National Stud Organisation, said at this week's annual conference of French mayors.

    France is a beautiful country and this looks like a wonderful idea, but I doubt the horses will appreciate it.

    Wasn’t it CW Anderson who said, “Many people have sighed for the ‘good old days’ and regretted the ‘passing of the horse,’ but today, when only those who like horses own them, it is a far better time for horses.”

    There are too many old horror stories about over-worked and badly kept horses for any horsey person to look on this positively and France doesn’t have the best reputation for animal welfare.

    At least France is trying to do something about climate change/global warming. And I’m sure the horses welfare will be the first concern.

    When I studied in Frnace the people always cared for their animals even though they have a different viewpoint to we british.
